Apply for Programs/Awards
WHC's Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification/International Accreditation Program recognizes meaningful wildlife habitat management programs, including environmental education programs. Accreditation through WHC provides third-party credibility and an objective evaluation of projects. Certification validates wildlife habitat projects to employees as well as the community at large. Each year, WHC accredits new projects as well as continues certification to those programs that have maintained WHC's stringent standards.
Directory of all WHC Awards
WHC's Registry of Certified & Internationally Accredited Corporate Wildlife Habitat Programs describes certified projects from around the globe. The employees and volunteers at Ontario Power Generation's Darlington Nuclear distinguished themselves by winning the coveted 2008 Corporate Habitat of the Year award, which goes to one recertified program each year. Restoration, creation, protection, and enhancement of habitat and individual species management are among the types of Wildlife at Work programs that qualify for accreditation. Certified environmental education programs, through WHC's Corporate Lands for Learning program, include cooperative efforts with schools using corporate lands for outdoor classrooms, or involving employees in one-to-one mentoring with students.
Certification criteria are stringent. Programs must be in place for a minimum of one year and applications require full documentation of activity.
