Wildlife Management Plan New Beginnings - The Woodlawn Wildife Area is a Certified Site through WHC's Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification/International Accreditation Program. New Beginnings has been certified since 2001. It was recertified in 2003 and is up for another recertification in 2006. As a certified site, New Beginnings has a Wildlife Management Plan and a Species Inventory. The Wildlife Management Plan, written in 2001, outlines the following goals: - Provide food and cover for forest wildlife.
- Provide nesting habitat for cavity nesting birds, particularly eastern bluebirds, American kestrel, tree swallows, screech owls, and wood ducks.
- Support the predator-prey relationship between raptors and small mammals.
- Add to the diversity of plant species by providing a wider variety of habitat types on site.
- Provide food and cover for insects, primarily butterflies, and provide an aesthetically pleasing area surrounding the entry to the field.
- Provide environmental education opportunities at the site.
- Increase positive image of the site, Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., and others involved with the project.
