Roaming freely in the habitat, a moose (Alces alces) enjoys the wetland areas near Monsanto Company’s Soda Springs Operation in Idaho. This largest member of the deer family finds habitat in wet, swampy areas or in aspen and willow thickets and spruce forests. 

A moose will wade, swim and even dive to depths of up to 15 feet, to reach the rushes, arrowheads, aquatic sedges and other aquatic plants, which compose its preferred diet. The site first achieved WHC Wildlife at Work certification in 1994.
