40th Anniversary Earth Day Fair
Join the Wildlife Habitat Council, federal agency partners, NGOs and many others for the 40th anniversary celebration of Earth Day. Discover hands-on, practical ways to protect the environment. Learn about the environment and organizations that you can join to protect the environment; test your knowledge with our quiz and guessing games; and win prizes. 

The Earth Day Fair will take place on April 22, 2010, at Rawlins Park, located at the intersection of 18th and E Streets, N.W., Washington DC. The festivities will run from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This event is brought to you by the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Earth Day Network
Founded by the organizers of the first Earth Day in 1970, the Earth Day Network (EDN) promotes environmental citizenship and year round progressive action worldwide. EDN's mission is to build broad-based citizen support for sound, workable and effective environmental and sustainable development policies for all. 

Great American Cleanup
Everyone deserves to live in a community environment that is healthy, safe, clean and beautiful, and we all have a role to play in achieving this goal. Join us in Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup™, the nation's largest community improvement program! The Great American Cleanup takes place from March 1 through May 31.  Please consider volunteering in a participating community near you! 

In 2009, hardworking volunteers donated more than 5.2 million hours in 2009 to clean, beautify and improve more than 32,000 communities during more than 30,000 events in all 50 states and beyond. Activities included beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning seashores and waterways, handling recycling collections, picking up litter, planting trees and flowers, and conducting educational programs and litter-free events. 

Earth Day at the National Zoo
Celebrate
Earth Day at the National Zoo! Join Zoo staff and other visitors in keeping our ecosystem healthy and picking up litter, aluminum cans, snack food wrappers, and other litter that will be sorted in recyclables and trash. Talk to members of the Zoo's Green Team about sustainability initiatives, and respresentatives from other organizations about what ordinary people can do to build solutions to global issues such as climate change. Children can participate in fun and educational activities.

United States Botanic Garden
Join the United States Botanic Garden for Thrive! Our Planet, Ourselves as it celebrates the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 23, 2010, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., by promoting fresh ideas from the garden for food, health and life. Representatives of environmental organizations from throughout the region will also be on hand with information and ways in which you can make the planet a healthier place and be stewards of our natural resources.
