Quail VII is the seventh in the series of Northern Bobwhite symposia dating back to 1972. Western quail have been included since Quail III in 1992. The 7th symposium will further highlight the diversity in conservation of quails with field tours of areas supporting Gambel’s, scaled and Mearns’ quail. The timing of the conference couldn’t be better as it coincides with Arizona’s quail hunting season.
It is expected that this symposium will be very popular with quail researchers and managers. The proceedings of the symposium will serve as an excellent venue to publish current research and advance quail conservation. This will be an excellent opportunity to share information on the progress of large-scale bobwhite restoration projects and movement of the National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative (NBCI).
The Farm Bill is also extremely important to bobwhite management, so there may be a lot of discussion around that topic, including recently completed studies of the USDA-NRCS/MSU Bobwhite Restoration Project and the CP-33 Habitat Buffers for Upland Birds National Monitoring Program.
