Eli Lilly & Company's Wabash River Restoration project used sunflowers as a temporary erosion buffer, wildlife habitat and food source in one of the restored wetlands. Native plants will replace the sunflowers as they grow.

Environmental education summer camp groups help in restoration efforts as part of the Glacial Lake Grantsburg Wetland/Pinebarrens Restoration project. Campers participated in a variety of habitat related projects, wildlife inventories and recreational development and maintenance.
