2008 Restoring Greenspace Conference

On May 14-15, WHC will hold the sixth annual Restoring Greenspace Conference in Concord, California. The 2008 conference will present a first-hand look at innovative programs, new initiatives and case studies that highlight the incorporation of ecological reuse practices in site restoration in EPA Region 9. Register online today!

Maureen F. Gorsen, Director of the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Department of Toxic Substances Control will offer the keynote speech at the 2008 conference. Ms. Gorsen will provide invaluable perspective for attendees, drawing on her vast experience in environmental compliance and land use.

Back by popular demand, WHC will offer a special pre-conference workshop on May 13, 2008, featuring Dr. David Tsao, the leading expert in phytoremediation technologies.

The Multi-State Working Group on Environmental Performance (MSWG) will host one of 36 national dialogues at the 2008 Restoring Greenspace Conference to explore a new era of ecological law as part of their major long-term project known as the Path to Washington.

Attendees participating in both a workshop and the conference can earn up to 2 continuing education units for this meeting. Continuing education units will be offered through California State University, Fresno at no charge for attendees.

WHC and NSSGA Sign Memorandum of Understanding
In recognition of Earth Day, The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) and the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two organizations.

Prairies for Tomorrow Award
The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) and Pheasants Forever (PF) are proud to announce the new Prairies for Tomorrow Award. This award has been created to encourage the completion of corporate wildlife habitat projects, specifically prairie restoration projects. The first award will be presented at WHC 20th Annual Symposium, November 17-18, 2008.

BP Hosts 2008 Corporate Lands for Learning Workshop
Corporate land managers, educators and students were brought together for two days of a fun and unique educational experience at the Wildlife Habitat Council’s 2008 Corporate Lands for Learning (CLL) Education and Outreach Workshop. BP’s Cooper River Plant, in Wando, South Carolina, hosted the 2008 Workshop as part of its two-day Signature of Sustainability celebration on March 14-15.

EPA Performance Track Collaborates with WHC on National Habitat Challenge Goal
Performance Track and WHC are pleased to announce an exciting new challenge goal for Performance Track members nationwide. The National Habitat Challenge Goal represents the first time that Performance Track has collaborated with non-governmental organizations and external stakeholders to develop a challenge goal.
