Resource conservation and ecological enhancement of industrial lands is the priority of the Wildlife Habitat Council and its members in Northwest Indiana and Southeast Chicago

This regional office is located in Hammond, Indiana, and works with companies, government agencies, conservation groups and the public to integrate ecological enhancements as part of remediation and restoration programs at industrial facilities and public properties.

Ecological enhancements are a range of natural systems engineering, such as phytoremediation and constructed wetlands, as well as ecological restoration and land stewardship of formerly degraded or contaminated sites.

Ecological enhancement projects are being developed on the ground in partnership with private and public landowners in Northwest Indiana and Southeast Chicago. These projects demonstrate the values of using voluntary wildlife habitat enhancement in site remediation, land restoration and land reuse.
