Five Star Restoration Program Announces Nearly $1 Million in Grants to Restore Wetlands and Streams
WASHINGTON - The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) today announced that over $990,000 in grants has been awarded to 37 community-led wetland, stream and coastal restoration projects nationwide. The grantees have committed an additional $4.9 million in local project support. In total, over $5.8 million will be invested in projects to restore 1,700 acres of wildlife habitat and approximately nine miles of streambanks, and which will engage more than7,800 volunteers in community-based habitat restoration projects.Wildlife Habitat Council’s Huron to Erie Waterways for Wildlife Honored as Michigan Green Leader

Silver Spring, MD - April 13, 2010 - Today, during the opening general session of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) 2010 Concrete Sustainability Conference in Tempe, AZ, NRMCA and the Wildlife Habitat Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that promotes the biodiversity of ready mixed concrete production facilities. This new partnership is designed to encourage participation in the programs of each organization and to engage and demonstrate voluntary corporate leadership in environmental performance, including enhancement and restoration of wildlife habitat.
