    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Department of the Army, acting through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a mutual framework of cooperation to develop opportunities for management, partnership and community outreach on Corps-owned properties.
  • Secretary Salazar Releases Study Showing Widespread Declines in Bird Populations, Highlights Role of Partnerships in Conservation
    Washington, D.C. - Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today released the first ever comprehensive report on bird populations in the United States, showing that nearly a third of the nation's 800 bird species are endangered, threatened or in significant decline due to habitat loss, invasive species, and other threats.
  • Wildlife Habitat Council Announces Incoming Chairman of the Board
    SILVER SPRING, MD - The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) announces Scott Kilkenny, Vice President Environmental Health & Safety, Kinder Morgan, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. He assumed the position on March 4, 2009, during the biannual Board meeting, which took place in Houston, Texas. He previously served as Secretary-Treasurer on the WHC Board of Directors.

    The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) will be at the Dow Wetlands Preserve on Monday, May 12 to present The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) with a new designation - the Signature of Sustainability. Dow is one of only a dozen corporations nationwide to receive this recognition.
  • Monsanto Company Receives Signature of Sustainability Designation
    Monsanto Company's Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve was recognized as a Signature of Sustainability by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its employees' outstanding commitment to biodiversity and conservation education. The Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve was one of only 21 WHC certified programs to receive this designation.
