![]() About the Wildlife Habitat Council The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) is a nonprofit, nonlobbying 501(c)(3) group of corporations, conservation organizations, and individuals dedicated to protecting and enhancing wildlife habitat. Created in 1988, WHC helps large landowners, particularly corporations, manage their unused lands in an ecologically sensitive manner for the benefit of wildlife values. More than 100 companies are WHC members, along with about two dozen conservation groups plus many individual supporters and contributors. WHC's habitat projects are corporate-driven cooperative efforts between management, employees, community members, local conservation groups, and local, state and federal agencies. To date, more than 300,000 acres in seven countries are managed for wildlife habitat through WHC-assisted projects, directly or indirectly affecting hundreds of plan and animal species occupying millions of acres. WHC Certification Program WHC's Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification/International Accreditation Program recognizes corporate properties with meaningful wildlife habitat management programs, including environmental education programs. Accreditation through WHC provides third-party credibility and an objective evaluation of project. WHC's annual International Registry of Certified Wildlife Habitats describes accredited sites. A "Corporate Habitat of the Year" for previously certified sites and a "Rookie of the Year" for first-time accredited sites are named at WHC's annual Symposium. Join the many corporations, environmental groups, associations and individuals who are members of the award-winning Wildlife Habitat Council and help support our efforts to protect and enhance land for wildlife.
