These human activities happen against the backdrop of rich and diverse biological communities—from Great Lakes aquatic life, to the creatures of shoreline marshes, and up into a varied mosaic of forests and grasslands. Its location makes this corridor crucial for migrating songbirds, raptors and waterfowl.
Companies, which own a large part of the local landscape, are playing a leading role in its management for wildlife. The Huron to Erie Waterways for Wildlife Project is designed to encourage that participation and make it beneficial to all involved. We focus on increasing the number and effectiveness of corporate wildlife programs, including their educational value, and on expanding public awareness of the beauty and fragility of our natural ecosystems.
