The Wildlife Habitat Council works through regional offices to offer the best service possible to our membership. The Southwest Regional Office is tasked with establishing productive and meaningful relationships with key partners to better highlight the members’ achievements and voluntary initiatives. In addition, the office continues to further the mission of the WHC in bordering states. Southwest Regional Office offers local support to corporations and industries participating in biodiversity conservation on their properties and in developing partnerships within the environmental community.
The southwest region is rich in biodiversity, and possesses a wide range of habitats including bayous, bottomlands, swamps, forests, grasslands, marshes, prairies, estuaries, and bays. Situated along the North American Central Flyway, this region is of hemispheric importance as a stopover habitat for migratory birds. The southwest regional office supports WHC’s Initiative for Natural Corridors (INC). INC is a program designed to connect sites through the shared goal of linking habitat and creating corridors for migratory wildlife. In addition, this initiative will develops partnership with the numerous WHC members, their business partners and important public and private conservation organizations located in this project area.
WHC’s Southwest Regional Office is located in Houston, TX, which boasts globally important ecological resources but also enjoys a rich corporate heritage. This office supports WHC sites located throughout Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arkansas. For more information, please contact:
