    Corporate Lands for Learning Program

    Bayer CLL
Volunteer employees lead students in environmental activities at the Bayer site.

Bayer's wildlife team and BASIC (Bayer Association of Science in the Community) program have opened it's habitat program to schools and other learners, through the Wildlife Habitat Council's Corporate Lands for Learning program. Partners include ASSET, Inc., the Carnegie Science Center, and TRHP.  Bayer kicked off the program in Fall of 2000 with the West Allegheny School District. Students got their boots - and hands - muddy through activities at Bayer's pond. Students prepared for the visit in advance, as well as continued the lesson back in class, since the program is integrated into the school's existing curriculum with ASSET.  Discoveries included mayfly larva, a water scorpion, and many bullfrog tadpoles. Employee volunteers with the wildlife team and BASIC program enjoyed the morning as much as the kids!

Bayer is now also a partner in Team Flight of the Wings of Wonder program, helping local students learn about migratory birds and their habitats. The module is available on-line for other educators and sites to utilize as well. Watch for more details!
