How it started.
The WHC Ibis Award was created in 2019 amid the Covid-19 pandemic to recognize a program that demonstrated resiliency of spirit and advancement of conservation despite shutdowns, quarantines and changes in the workplace. Past winners include Bacardi Jacksonville, Stellantis Windsor and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia.
The Ibis Award today.
The Ibis Award has evolved to include programs impacted by any type of unforeseen or unique challenges. Whether related to company restructuring, budget cuts, resources, etc. many teams have had to rethink how to continue their conservation activities, making major shifts in objectives as well as tactics. The Ibis Award celebrates the employee teams who continue to overcome challenges in a positive and relevant way, truly exemplifying the WHC mantra, Every Act of Conservation Matters.®
Why the Ibis?
Folklore maintains that the Ibis, a symbol of knowledge found in the Everglades and Egypt, is the last sign of wildlife to take shelter before a hurricane and the first to reappear after the storm. During challenging times, we know you share the same rebounding spirit.
Show us how you overcame challenges to continue to make Every Act of Conservation Matter. Nominate a program today. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2024.
