WHC views transparency as essential to credibility, and is committed to both procedural and outcome transparency. As a part of this commitment, we are open about who the decision makers are and what stakeholders are involved with the development of WHC Certification, and how the standard is governed and developed.
While WHC as an organization is governed by its Board of Directors, the standard that constitutes WHC Certification will be governed by a separate entity to be convened in 2016. This entity, a steering committee of conservation professionals, certification experts and corporate representatives, will govern the development of the standard and oversee a change management process as the standard evolves.
The makeup and mission of this committee will be published as part of our commitment to transparency. The committee will be selected through recommendations from our conservation partners and corporate members.
