Our response to coronavirus (Covid-19) with regard to
WHC Certification applications

The impact of the current pandemic continues to grow around the world with great human and economic cost. We at WHC understand the safety and health of our members and the communities they serve are of the utmost importance.

Accommodations for programs affected by Covid-19
During this time, maintenance, monitoring, education and other conservation activities may be challenging at best, impossible at worst. Certification applications now include a series of questions about the impact of Covid-19 on your conservation projects. If continuity of a project (management and monitoring, education efforts etc.) is disrupted by the pandemic, these gaps will not adversely impact an application’s score. Applications will be evaluated based on work that was done outside of the impacted time period. Please note: The base requirements for WHC Certification remain the same. As a result, if you have a new program with less than a full year’s worth of monitoring for a habitat or species project, please contact us for guidance before submitting an application. The deadline for recognition at WHC’s Fall Virtual Event (Date TBD) is July 15, 2020. Read the announcement about Conservation Conference move to 2021 and the Fall Virtual Event here.
