About the Program
Trinseo’s Dalton latex plant is located in Dalton, Georgia, about 70 miles north of Atlanta. In 2015, the site initiated a wildlife habitat enhancement program to provide safe habitat for native species. Employees seek to increase pollinator population by providing foraging and habitat opportunities for monarch butterflies. The team shows environmental stewardship by using certified wildlife habitat on the property as an education opportunity for employees and the community.

Practices and Impacts
  • The team created a pollinator garden on a 1,200-square-foot parcel of land to provide habitat for monarch butterflies. The butterfly garden contains all native species and serves as an education opportunity for guests that visit the site.
  • Employees actively manage the garden with annual cleaning, weeding and the removal of brown leaves, stalks and overgrown plants. Team members conduct an annual plant abundance and diversity survey to monitor plant survival, documenting survival through photographs.
