River Rock Plant

About the Program
The Vulcan Materials River Rock Plant is located along California's San Joaquin River near Fresno, California. This site was previously used for mining but has been re-vegetated with native species. Since this site is across the river from critical old growth forest, the team works to enhance habitat value by ensuring the ecosystem services provided by the larger system are expanded onto their site.

Practices and Impacts

• Team members actively maintain and monitor 31 nest boxes for cavity nesting birds over 80 acres. 
• The nest boxes support various habitat needs of native bird species including foraging, water resources, shelter, breeding and nesting. 
• The boxes are actively monitored and maintained as needed.
