About the Program
The Cadillac Service Center program is operated by DTE Energy in Cadillac, Michigan. Cadillac is located in Wexford County, which is in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and is approximately 220 miles north-west of Detroit. The site is close to Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac. At the project site, a landscaped garden of native flowering plants and grasses has been planted in front of the service center building, covering an area of around 0.1 acres. The project team work to maintain the diversity of plants in order create a healthy habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.

Practices and Impacts
  • Plants are photographed and inventoried to identify native and invasive species, to assist with maintaining species diversity.
  • Invasive plants are removed when observed to prevent spread and encourage growth of the beneficial native plants.
  • The team photographs wildlife using the site, and recent observations include monarch butterflies as well as deer and birds.
  • The site includes signage to inform employees and visitors that the garden is a pollinator habitat.
