About the Program
The DTE Escanaba Service center is located in on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This site is part of the active DTE natural gas service utility. Escanaba Service Center was first certified by WHC in 2015. Employees and partners have worked together to create a landscaped area on-site, which seeks to provide native habitat for pollinator species in alignment with DTE Energy’s corporate mission.

Practices and Impacts
- Employees maintain 300 square feet of garden space using environmentally beneficial techniques such as avoiding pesticides and selecting native species. The project also limits the amount of turf grass mowed to reduce the amount of fossil fuels used and CO2 emitted. Monitoring takes place several times per year and consists of photographs of plants and pollinator species seen on-site.
