About the Program
In alignment with their corporate commitment to protecting pollinators, Bayer's Eloy Monarch Butterfly Waystation in Arizona provides important habitat for a wide diversity of pollinators. Located along the monarch butterfly migration route between Mexico and Southern Canada, the site also provides important migratory stopover habitat for this species. The garden, created in 2016, also includes sustainable features such as solar powered irrigation, a drip irrigation system and a policy that prohibits pesticide use.

Practices and Impacts
  • Monitoring of the waystation demonstrates the crucial habitat it provides for local pollinators, such as monarch butterflies, Sonoran bumblebees, central bumblebees, other bumblebees, leafcutters, mason and sweat bees, and mining bees.
