About the Program
Exelon Corporation's Dewey Beach Right of Way is located on Rehoboth Bay in Delaware, about 120 miles south of Philadelphia. The one-acre property is maintained as an important wetland and tidal marsh habitat. The habitat includes salt-tolerant grasses, maritime forest and an area planted with native vegetation to attract pollinators.

Practices and Impacts
  • To restore the wetland on-site, the team manually removed invasive grasses and five tons of debris to allow native coastal grasses to recover.
  • The team relocated an osprey nesting platform and installed live webcams to allow team members and the public to monitor osprey nesting activity in the habitat.
  • In 2018, a filter sock seeded with native wildflowers was installed upland on the site to control erosion and increase plant biodiversity
