Practices and Impacts
  • The team is restoring habitat for pollinators, including monarch butterflies and bees, by planting native species such as butterfly weed, purple coneflower and milkweed. insect houses, rocks and mulch provide shelter for pollinators.
  • Monthly maintenance, weeding and invasive species management ensure the area remains healthy.
  • The bioswales are regularly inspected for erosion as well as drainage function. Limestone was added to prevent erosion and runoff.
  • The team has observed pollinators on-site, including monarchs, as well as a variety of bird species.
