About the Program
The ExxonMobil site is located in Wilmington, Illinois, about 60 miles south of Chicago. The project includes 2.5 acres of grassland and landscaped pollinator habitat. The conservation objective is to create and manage habitat for native plants that support pollinators.

Practices and Impacts
  • Since 2019, the team has managed a two-acre landscaped pollinator garden planted with mostly natives. Species planted include creeping phlox, black-eyed Susan and dogwood. The team maintains the garden and monitors the vegetation.
  • Since 2019, the team has also managed a 0.5-acre native grassland habitat. Results from monitoring have shown that 22 out of 25 species planted bloomed in both 2021 and 2022, indicating a healthy, thriving habitat.
