About the Program
Benjamin Moore’s Pell City Site is located in Pell City, Alabama, approximately 20 miles northwest of Talladega. Habitats on-site include wetland, forest and field. The Pell City Site also serves as an outdoor classroom for students in the surrounding community, providing educators with a platform to encourage awareness, knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment.

Practices and Impacts
  • The team maintains and monitors a three-acre wetland on-site to protect the natural habitat. The habitat is maintained in accordance with the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association, a citizen science initiative aiding in education of the community around the value of Logan Martin Lake.
  • In partnership with Alabama Water Watch, the team monitors the water quality and environmental factors in the wetland habitat to track the health of the water body. The team measures temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, hardness, alkalinity and turbidity of the water. All of this data contributes to the Alabama Water Watch database.
  • The team has observed steady water quality supporting the health of the wetland habitat.
