About the Program
The Bosque Planta Tlaxcala project is located in the industrial city of Xicohtencatl, in the state of Tlaxcala in Mexico. COVIA has owned this property since 2004 and began forest management efforts as early as 2005. The entire site consists of approximately five hectares and is located on alluvial plains where most of the vegetation, based on initial inventories, appears to be native. The primary objectives of this program are to improve habitat and continue restoration efforts, such as reforestation. The site also provides an interactive space for employees to gain environmental awareness.

Practices and Impacts
  • Scientifically rigorous monitoring has been conducted to continue assessing vegetation cover from trees, shrubs and understory.
  • Management efforts have been made to preserve the health of the forest plantation.
  • Efforts have also been made to create a space that is welcoming to pollinators.
  • There has been a notable increase in biodiversity since on-the-ground work began.
