Chattanooga Plant

About the Program
The Chattanooga Plant project is operated by Buzzi Unichem USA, Inc, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The site is situated to the north of Chattanooga, located between Nashville and Atlanta, and is close to the Tennessee River. At the site, the Clayfield Lake Management project team have the goal of turning a steep sided lake which was formerly a mine into a better habitat for a number of native fish species. The lake area is surrounded by trees and shrubs, with the reservoir itself covering approximately 23 acres. 

Practices and Impacts

• Prior to project work beginning, surveys were carried out to assess the lake and help design specific improvements for the site;
• Improvements include various structures which have been added to provide shelter and spawning grounds;
• Regular fishing days help provide ongoing data on species size and composition while involving employees in the project.
