About the Program
The Stellantis Toluca Complex-Assembly Plant program is located in Toluca, Mexico, approximately 40 miles south west of Mexico City. Toluca has a temperate climate due to its high altitude. The program site contains a working manufacturing plant. At the project site, an area of approximately 10,000 square feet was chosen to be developed into a grassland pollinator habitat, created and managed by a team of employees. The aim of the project is to provide a safe habitat including water and nectar sources for pollinators such as bees, butterflies and hummingbirds which can also be observed by staff and visitors to the site.

Practices and Impacts
  • In July of 2021, employees planted >80 native wildflower and plant species in the pollinator garden in addition to preserving existing native vegetation. The team installed tree trunks for pollinators to utilize as shelter, along with an irrigation system to provide water to pollinators and plants.
  • Local university students assisted with installing the new plants
  • A team of employees is responsible for monitoring and management of the site. Monitoring of pollinators and associated plants takes place regularly, and biodiversity has improved in the pollinator garden since the inception of the project with the pollinator population increasing by 300% since 2021.
