About the Program
The Landscaping Bayer Nextipac Program's project site is located in the state of Jalisco in the central western region of Mexico. The state's climate is generally temperate with humid, tropical summers. The overall property is around 10 acres, and the team has sought to improve its limited habitat value by adding 1.24 acres of landscaped habitat that benefits native pollinator insect species, birds and other wildlife. The team replaced the sparse non-native vegetation of the site with an array of native trees, shrubs and other beneficial vegetation, and it continues to develop plans to improve the site's sustainability.

Practices and Impacts
  • In order to improve the site area's value for wildlife and aesthetic purposes, the team has converted an unused lot that was composed of patches of dirt, turf grass and non-native herbaceous species into a landscaped garden with several species of native plants. The team has monitored the area over the course of the project, and it has found that a variety of wildlife species have used the area as habitat.
